MONTGOMERY, AL (December 23, 2024) - MAX Credit Union, a local financial institution based in Montgomery, Alabama, is pleased to announce The Brown Bag Bus of the Greater Montgomery YMCA as the recipient of the 2024 MAX Community Achievement award in the River Region. Through the MAX Community Achievement Award, deserving organizations are recognized for their contribution to the community by offering impactful resources, with a focus on youth in the regions we serve.
The Brown Bag Bus is an initiative to combat childhood hunger and its lasting effects by closing the transportation gap. Through this unique traveling feeding program, different locations in underserved communities throughout the Montgomery area are provided with a healthy meal option so young people are left satisfied and hunger-free. In addition to the 500,000 meals the YMCA already distributes, The Brown Bag Bus provides an additional 100 meals per day during the school year and 1,000 meals per week during the summer.
As a recipient in the River Region, The Brown Bag Bus will receive a $7,000 donation to assist in efforts to further its mission feeding those in need. “We are honored to present the 2024 MAX Community Achievement Award to The Brown Bag Bus of the Greater Montgomery YMCA. Their efforts are making a significant impact, particularly for young individuals who need sustained nourishment to thrive,” said President and CEO, Martin Head.
To assist The Brown Bag Bus in their initiative, MAX Credit Union executives and local team members volunteered by serving meals at various locations in the Montgomery area. A check presentation was held where team members from both organizations were in attendance.
